Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
Meet Camper. He is now ten months old. My husband and I rescued him from a lake in Georgetown, TX. We were on one of our evening walks in late Oct. when we heard his soft cries and saw his pleading eyes. We did our best to ignore him, thinking he was a stray or maybe belonged to the houses behind the lake, but he didn’t want to be ignored. He followed us to our camper and meowed the entire way.
He was hungry and lonely, and I was a sucker to his pleas. I gave him milk and lunch meat, then let him hang out in the camper. (I say I, but my husband got sucked in by his charm, too.) We even let him sleep between us one night and he purred and cuddled the whole time. We did this for over two weeks while we waited for someone to claim him, but no one ever did.
We knew we couldn’t keep him, but we couldn’t leave him either, so we took him to a wonderful animal shelter in Georgetown. (They named him Camper because of his story.) We visited him often to make sure he was okay, and other than being a little shy, he loved it there. So much so, that when the people from The Blue Cat Café came to get cats who would do well in their establishment, they knew Camper would be a perfect fit. And he was.
He especially liked their Christmas décor.
This Café finds homes for all the cats they bring in. And the cats get to have a fun place to hang until their forever home is found. But here is where the story gets even better. This Café is only a few blocks from where our son lives, so yesterday when we came up to Austin to spend the rest of the Christmas holiday with him here, we stopped into the Café to see Camper. And not only were we able to play with him again, we were able to see him get adopted. How cool is that?! As I have written before, I don’t believe in Co-Winky-Dinks. We were meant to find him, to save him, and to meet his new family. What a wonderful blessing. Here’s their picture below along with myself, my husband, and of course, Camper.
Thanks for reading!
And if you guys get the chance, look up The Blue Cat Café. Over 400 cats have been adopted out from their establishment so far.

P.S. If the wonderful family who adopted Camper is reading this, please stay in touch, we would love to know how he’s doing. UP-DATE: They did, and Camper, now Charlie, is doing wonderful. God is so good!
