Life’s not always picture perfect!
Hi, Everyone! This was what greeted us when we finally decided to leave Arizona, which was on May 14. Isn’t Holloman AFB in Alamogordo, New Mexico beautiful!? I’m pretty sure I just heard a bunch of “Nos”. If not, we need to talk about what you all consider beautiful. But anyway, I digress.
We had the pleasure of staring at this delightful site the entire time we stayed. It was hands down the dirtiest base we’ve ever seen. My husband and I dubbed it the “Dog Poo Base” because there was dog poo everywhere (along with trash). And I’m talking everywhere you walked throughout the base. And this part of New Mexico isn’t pretty to start with, it didn’t need the help being yucky.
However, this isn’t the only reason I picked this title. I post a lot about the fun stuff we see and do, but there is always some poo behind the scenes. (Pun intended) When we first arrived after a five-hour drive, the slide on our 5th Wheel broke. And not a little brake either. So my poor husband had to spend hours underneath the camper working on it just so we could push the slide out. Then we had to find the part in a dinky little town to fix it before we could escape this smelly base. But thankfully, we did, and we only had to deal with the trashiness for a week. Hallelujah!
Now before you all become too worried, we made our escape a few days ago, drove through Roswell, NM to say hi to the aliens, stayed overnight at a really cute RV spot in Tatum, NM (where a different part of the slide broke, but was a much easier fix) and are now currently at a lake close to Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, TX, which will start our summer lake rotation through Texas. And we really do deal with more good than bad, minus the camper braking part. But when your house is an old girl (16 years to be exact) you have to give her a bit more love. 😉
I hope you all liked my stinky story! I had fun sharing it.
And for those of you who follow my books, book 2 in my Before Series will be released this August on the one year anniversary of book 1’s launch. (Or as close as my editor can get me)
Have a great start to your summer!
Lisa
P.S. If you are new to my adventures, welcome! I’m so glad you’ve joined us. Feel free to contact me anytime. I love to chitchat.
