The Tale Of Two Fishes: And why they were on our camper floor.
It all started two years ago with a goldfish and a goldfish bowl. After many purchases, many goldfish funerals, a month’s stay at a friend’s house because we closed on our house early, a cross-country road trip in our camper’s bathtub, a week-long pit stop at my parents where we kept tripping their breakers trying to keep the camper cool so the fish wouldn’t fry, and a couple death-defying car rides, we ended up with this twenty gallon, toe-stubbing hazard on our camper floor. Why?
Fury and Brutus, that’s why. Our son’s two surviving fish. Fury is pictured above, blending in with the rocks. And Brutus is below, hanging upside down on the ruins enjoying lunch. (Although, I’m not sure an algae sucker is classified as a fish, but for this I’m counting him.)
But also because the apartment we were supposed to move our son into when we got here was so bad even the cockroaches had moved out!
So sad son and his stressed out fishes had to come back to the camper until a more habitable unit could be found (which by the following Monday one had been, along with lots of apologizing from management and some extra perks thrown in for the hassle. And believe me, that word does NOT due this experience justice.)
Although, I will always be proud of how this boy handles what life throws at him. He took it in stride.
Now I am happy to report they are all moved in and doing well. Our son loves being on his own, and his fishes love being off our floor. They even finally have the correct amount of water, a clean tank, and a new friend, Columbus.
Thanks for reading about our craziness. Your support of my writing is priceless! …Lisa
Oh, and for those of you who might not know, I post a lot of other entertaining tidbits on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. But I warn you that I post the same stuff on all three so just pick your favorite to follow me on if you’d like to see them. You won’t be disappointed…hopefully. 😉
