Spring is here. Summer is coming. God is good!
Happy May, Everyone!
Here’s the other half of my updates. Hope you all enjoy them. And remember, if you’d like to see the original post, just click on the titles.
Post eleven, “Praying for Texas!” We’re still praying for Texas and all the areas that were affected by the hurricanes. Many are still recovering and will be for years to come.
Post twelve, “The couch set up was cute, but…” I haven’t made my husband do any major renovations since this post. It’s a small camper, there weren’t any more left—other than regular maintenance, of course. That will exist no matter what kind of home you live in. : ) And I’m still loving having the time to write, which I am—hours and hours’ worth. More on that to come soon.
Post thirteen, “What did I get myself into?!” I still have to check for spiders, but staying primarily at military bases this winter instead of at lakes has helped keep these little buggers to a minimum. And yes, we still turn everything into a game. It makes the challenges of this lifestyle more fun.
Post fourteen, “What does a writer do when she lives at campgrounds?” I still make up stories about our neighbors, but it’s not as much fun on military bases. Lake campers are more entertaining, as in, they give me more weirdness to work with than military members. Although, the retirees can be a hoot at either.
Post fifteen, “A funny fact about Texans. And a funny fact about us.” Yes, Texans still like to light everything up—at least the ones who camp at lakes do. And yes, we still dislike each other’s driving. But we’re working on it. We do have some news on the vehicle front though. We sold my husband’s motorcycle and trailer and are getting ready to buy a cute “drive around town” car. One that I can drive behind the camper on our location moves and belt out my favorite songs in without hurting anybody’s ears except my own. Good times! And it will give my husband a break from my “backseat driving”. Good times for him too!
Post sixteen, “Look at me! I’m riding the waves!” We are presently back in Corpus Christie at the naval base and I have to say that even though I’m a lake girl—the ocean is cool, but the wind and salt water that corrodes everything in a matter of days is not my thing—I love the sea birds. In fact, I never realized how much I’d love watching birds until we started this journey. And I get to see a pair of dolphins’ eating every day right off the peer close to our camper. I call them my buddies. This RV life rocks!
Post seventeen, “Say what? Alligators! No way?!” Sadly, I was not able to find my Texas alligator. Next time, my friend. Next time.
Post eighteen, “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!” Camper—now Charlie—is doing wonderful in his new home. He even likes his new family’s dog now. Yea! Happy kitty!
Post nineteen, “Help! I’m location trapped…Oh, wait, never mind.” My husband and I have learned that we are never really location trapped. It might be a pain, and we might have to pay a penalty for leaving early, but we can always pack up and leave a place if we don’t like it or if something falls through. We are even in the process of updating our camper in case we have to boondock—this means no hookups, and possibly somewhere located out in the boonies. And since we will be headed to New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada this coming winter, boon-docking may become a regular event. In this lifestyle you have to be prepared for everything.
Post twenty, “Distractible Me!” Distractions will always be my nemesis—enough said.
Thanks for reading! Having you guys to share my adventures with makes them all the more fun!
Have a great day!
Lisa
And here’s a cute video of some of my ocean friends. I love watching them take baths. They crack me up. 🙂
